Psychotherapy

Let your best life unfold with psychotherapy

Identify the obstacles holding you back & create lasting change

At the tender age of 21 I had my first ever therapy session.  I was unhappy & insecure.  I could sense that things were just not quite right… and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. I gained so many insights, understanding and I still remember & live by many of the gems I received in that first ever session.

Now years later, as a qualified psychotherapist & holistic counsellor trained in Process Oriented Psychotherapy, I am honoured to travel with you along your life path to help you examine somatic cues, claim awareness of unconscious emotions, uncover your life gifts and purpose and identify what’s holding you back from creating the life you deserve.

Process Oriented Psychotherapy is a holistic modality that draws on various pathways including: Taoism, Jungian therapy & dream analysis, shamanism, yoga and even quantum physics.  This is a client-focused therapy where we follow your process with an open mind, trusting in your inherent wisdom and knowing.

Nothing is considered wrong in a session, instead we stay very present to subtle cues that may offer insights & information.  We may utilise movement, feelings & inner processes, dreams & more.

Build a STRONG inner structure.  Create a resilient life.

What happens during a psychotherapy session?

  • 1.
In a relaxed setting, we usually begin with a centering exercise or meditation to gently guide you into an relaxed and receptive state of mind.
  • 2.
Together we evaluate your situation and goals and then use a combination of therapy techniques including talk therapy, dreamwork, body symptoms, movement, postures and gestures, inner processes, guided meditations, role playing and conflict resolution to allow your life potential to unfold.
  • 3.
We create a plan to help you reach your full potential. This may include ideas, meditations, journalling, exercises to incorporate into daily life or until the next session.

What others have said about psychotherapy

‘There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ to anything that arises in a session, only a curiosity to follow your path.  ‘I have been in therapy with Emma for two years now and the way she approaches psychotherapy is unlike anyone I have spoken to in the past. I feel incredibly safe with her, I feel that she is very understanding of me and my personality. ‘

Psychotherapy Frequently Asked Questions

It can be a blurry line between the two, however, typically counselling is more mainstream with a focus on one’s immediate issues (usually addressed and resolved on a more conscious level) and done through talking therapy, unless the counsellor is holistically trained.

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is usually a less traditional process and could be considered a form of holistic counselling. It looks deeper into your patterns of behaviour, your beliefs and thought processes, and the root cause of your problems. Psychotherapy often utilises non-traditional forms of therapy such as movement, gestures, role playing, dream analysis, inner processes, artwork to name a few.

This helps the client connect with their less known or unconscious parts of themselves that usually holds the key to transformation.

It is important that both you and your therapist feel comfortable in the therapy relationship. If you enjoyed and felt comfortable in this first session, and would like to continue working together, then it is suggested that you book in for at least 4 sessions over 2 months so that some consistency & momentum is created. You will know by this point if there is an ease & synergy to the therapeutic relationship and would like to work together on an ongoing basis.

Yes absolutely, sessions can done remotely either within Australia or globally. This is an effective and practical way to work especially if you do not have access to therapists locally.

Yes I do see couples. Although I do not specialise as a couples therapist, per se, I do have a speciality working with pregnant couples & new parents, as well as for couples wanting an amicable separation.
