As we approach the end of the year, there are 2 powerful ways to finish 2024 so that you can let go of any stress, overwhelm or worries from the past year, and begin 2025 feeling clear, calm and confident about what you want to create in the New Year.
COMPLETION
Completion is essential for ending the year feeling calm, confident, and clear because it allows us to tie up loose ends and create a sense of closure.
Bringing any project or creation to a finish and acknowledging its completion is just as important as the beginning phase
When we don’t finish something, we are leaving it hanging in mid-air and it just loiters about up there in the ether with all of our other unfinished projects. And despite seeming invisible, it does still take up space.
Without completion, we can carry unresolved stress, confusion, and anxiety into the next phase, leaving us overwhelmed and unfocused. By embracing completion, we create space for clarity, renewed energy, and a fresh start, allowing us to move into the new year with purpose and peace of mind
When we consciously complete tasks, projects, or commitments, we free ourselves from the mental clutter and emotional weight of unfinished business. This practice helps us reflect on our progress, acknowledge achievements, and release what no longer serves us.
“Completing the final phase is important for anything that we start.
What are you completing or bringing to a wrap as 2024 comes to a close?”
Here are five ways to bring your year to completion in a calm, conscious, and empowered way:
1. Clean out your inbox.
This may seem like a small and boring thing to do, however, trust me, it feels sooooo good clearing out the ‘junk’ out of your life. Having an (almost) empty inbox removes mental and digital clutter from your mind and your virtual world, helping you feel more organized and in control.
An overflowing inbox can be a constant source of stress, serving as a reminder of unfinished tasks, missed opportunities, or unresolved issues. By decluttering and organizing your messages, you release the weight of the past and make room for fresh energy, ideas, and opportunities.
This sets the tone for a clean and intentional start, allowing you to approach the new year with clarity and focus, free from unnecessary distractions
2. Tie Up Loose Ends:
Finish lingering tasks and mundane chores such as paying bills, filing away paper work, organsing folders & files (both paper & virtual). Completing what you’ve started brings closure and reduces the mental weight of unfinished business
Another way to do this is to clean out a messy drawer, tidy your desk or spring clean your office. By cleansing your physical area you are also clearing the metaphysical space, allowing for new opportunities, projects or collaborations to come in.
“Remind yourself that sometimes things don’t work out as a divine form of re-direction to somewhere, something or someone even better.”
3. Complete unfinished Projects.
Identify unfinished courses, programs, business or creative projects that you may have started at some point during the year and have left unfinished and hanging. Outline what you want to leave behind and what you wish to carry forward.
Take the time to decide if you would like to let the project go for good or breathe some life back into it in 2025. Create a list of priorities and align your choices with your values to approach the new year with clarity and purpose. You can do this by reflecting on what this project gives you? Is it aligned with your bigger goals and contributing to building your life dreams? Is the project something that you truly love or does it feel like an obligation?
If you decide to let go of a project, you can do this in a calm and conscious way by acknowledging what it has given you even though it won’t officially be finished.
If you do choose to continue the project next year, this process will still create a sense of completion for this phase of the project so you can pick it up again with renewed energy, clarity & interest next year.
4. Release and Let Go
Reflect on lingering emotions, limiting thoughts & beliefs or unhelpful habits or behaviours that no longer serve you. These will be aspects of yourself that create stress in your life or keep you playing small. You may do this through journaling, meditation or self-enquiry practices.
You could try a simple ritual such as writing down undesired thoughts, feelings or habits and consciously burning the piece of paper to symbolise your commitment to releasing letting go of these unconscious patterns and ideas about yourself.
A perfect time to do this is on a full moon which naturally supports the process of letting go of shadows, old patterns or aspects of yourself.
5. Resolve Communications
Finishing conversations, completing communications, and resolving agreements at the end of the year is essential for creating closure and helps resolve unfinished business, preventing misunderstandings or confusion.
Unfinished communications can weigh on your mind, creating stress or anxiety. Closing these loops brings a sense of relief, clarity & prevent misunderstandings or conflicts from carrying over into the new year, offering peace of mind and a clean slate.
Completing these communications also helps you reclaim energy and focus by closing loops that might otherwise drain your mental and emotional reserves. By addressing lingering tasks or unspoken words, you create space for new opportunities and a sense of alignment as you move forward. Whether personal or professional, this practice allows you to start the new year feeling empowered, clear, and ready for growth
So take the time to tie up loose ends through unfinished emails, phone calls, in-person or virtual meetings or having those difficult conversations. It may even require you to bring a collaboration to a close – with a work colleague or friend.
“It is Important to do this process with gratitude.
Bless whatever you are releasing with Love & Thanks”
In this process of Completion, you will naturally be taking stock of your year so far and will more easily allow for acknowledging accomplishments….
CELEBRATION
Celebrating yourself is something that we don’t usually do for ourselves .. in fact, we usually do the opposite – we think about all the things that we haven’t achieved, missed opportunities or failures or mistakes we have made. By focusing on lack or what we don’t want, we only magnetise more of this to us.
So Instead, reflect on your accomplishments, focus on your successes and celebrate your milestones during the year, no matter how big or small as a way to This allows you to acknowledge your growth and the challenges you’ve overcome to cultivate gratitude and a sense of fulfillment. Importantly, by putting your attention on what you have created and achieved, you will magically call in even more of what you want.
Here are five meaningful ways to celebrate your achievements, both big and small, to bring a sense of closure and fulfillment to your year:
1. Create a Gratitude List
Write down everything you accomplished this year, including personal growth moments and small wins. This can include everything from personal achievements and Reflect on how these achievements have shaped your journey and express gratitude for the lessons learned.
2. Do a Celebration Ritual
Take the time and space to reflect and celebrate in a mindful rite of passage. Light candles, play uplifting music, or meditate as you honour your successes. Consider what each celebration has given you and how it has contributed to making your life better, more fulfilling or joyful. If you have an altar, place the written or symbolic celebrations here so you can be reminded of them regularly. writing each achievement on a slip of paper and placing it in a “success jar” or burning it as a symbolic release of the past year.
3. Share Your Wins
Celebrate your accomplishments with friends and loved ones. This can be done in person, over a meal, a coffee, on a beach walk or remotely on facetime or a virtual group gathering. By receiving support and encouragement as you celebrate your wins, you may experience a deeper sense of pride and joy which can imprint into your nervous system so that energetically you become more comfortable celebrating yourself This will only spread the love and encourage others to do the same and recognise their own achievements and celebrations.
4. Treat Yourself
Reward yourself with something special, such as a day of self-care, a small gift, or an experience that feels meaningful to you, as a way to honour your hard work and dedication with rest and rejuvenation. This could be a mini holiday, a day trip into nature, a special meal out, a glass of champagne or a well deserved massage. This also fosters a deeper sense of love, care and kindness for yourself
5. Document Your Journey
Create a scrapbook, vision board, or digital photo collage that highlights key moments and milestones. This visual reminder can inspire you as you look ahead to new goals in the coming year. Importantly this will only help to call in and manifest more of what you have already created
Even if you get to some of this or do the completion & celebrations in a small way, you will be setting yourself up for a less chaotic, calmer and clearer start to your new year.
